“Finally, then, brothers, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, just as you are doing, that you do so more and more. For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, your sanctification…”

1 Thessalonians 4:1-3

God will let you settle wherever you want to settle, whether it is in the wilderness or Canaan. He will not push you beyond where you want to be pushed or what you want. What He does is put ingredients into your days and seasons that are designed to lead you somewhere. We ALL have areas of our life where we need to change, however; we cannot change ourselves. If we could change ourselves, we wouldn’t go through the rollercoaster and ups and downs of saying one thing and doing something else. ALL of us need change in one area or another! If you cannot change yourself then you surely cannot change another person.

People often associate change with the will of God. We imagine the doing the will of God will change us. So, when we are wanting change we equate change to some dimension of the will of God. The will of God will change things. The thing that will change according to the will of God is not the circumstance. In fact, you will change! Doing the will of God will change you and resultantly, the circumstance will recalibrate to adjust to the new you. The will of God is not so much about a change in things. The will of God is not the house you purchase, what vehicle you buy or the job you should take. The scripture says, “the will of God is, your sanctification!” YOU being sanctified is the will of God. Sanctification is the process of being set apart.

If you are going to be changed, it starts with being converted/born again. When you were born; you were born physically but spiritually dead. Being born again means being born spiritually but physically dead. Not dead in the sense of being casketized or literally without breath, but no longer ruled by your physical senses. Sanctification is being set apart for Gods’ use! If God is going to use you, you must change! Jesus died for your change. If you enter into sanctification things will change because you change. Sanctification did not produce what you are now, sanctification produces what you were predestined to be. It does not matter what obstacles you had to overcome, who has treated you well, and who has mistreated you. It does not matter who has abused you, because sanctification is all about change. Things will change if you will change by submitting yourself to sanctification.

The will of God is all about YOU and who God has called you to be! God uses the circumstances that you are facing as the catalyst to ignite the wind of change in you. This is a strategy most people miss. We are so given to asking God to change our circumstances and God is really after changing us. You are fighting your advancement. YOU have to get pass YOU!  Perhaps the blessings are there, just not visible because you are blocking them. The world is calling for you, you are a solution to someone’s problem. If you can get out of the way, then you can start solving problems.

The bible refers to Him as The Lamb and The Lion. The Lamb who takes away the sin of the world and the Lion of the tribe of Judah. Sanctification is meant to rid you of you, so that you can take on the personality and character of the Lamb and Lion. The Lamb has everything to do with meekness which is humility toward God and gentleness toward people… Situations are presented for you to demonstrate humility toward God and gentleness toward people. Biblically, lambs are synonymous with sacrifice. If the situation around you will ever change, you must start assessing what can I sacrifice? What can I let go of so this situation is right?  God is going to start requiring you to make a decision for you to humble yourself to become what you need to become. The humble sacrifice of self, releases a divine strategy to advance the Kingdom of God.  Gods’ strategy will tell you what, where, and how to be. Gods’ strategy positions you to take over to advance the Kingdom! Your strategy is connected to something within the grasp of your capability, whereas Gods’ strategy is connected to something you have never seen. What God wants to do through you is beyond what you can conceive! You need a God-strategy because the will of God is always occupied with opposition. When God wanted to give Jericho to Israel they needed a strategy to penetrate Jericho because Jericho was populated and securely shut up. You need a strategy!

The bible refers to Jesus as the lion of Judah who is associated with strength, power, and wisdom. The Lion in you is built to seize a moment, but you cannot seize a moment you do not recognize. The Lamb and the Lion work together. The Lamb receives a strategy and the Lion is empowered to seize an opportunity. The lion does not have to bite in order for you to leave your stuff right where you see him.

Through sanctification, I am the Lamb who receives strategy and the Lion who seizes every divine opportunity. This is the will of God!
